Second Team Round-Up

LAST GAME 26.04.08    Bonymaen 2 v  Brunswick 1. This was a game where we turned up with only 10 men from the start, and even a makeshift goal keeper.  However, our team put on a great display and had Bonymaen rattled.  It was only due to their club member refereeing the game that they actually won. They even sent us down to 9 men in the second half, and then they finally scored. We came off the pitch realising we had put on a gusty performace, and only lost because of their ref!

12.04.08  Winch Wen 2  Brunswick 2. This will be one to remember. We were 2 nil up with only 4 minutes to go, when suddenly they had a shot from edge of box and it went in the top corner. Then they scored another in the last seconds. This was a game we definately should have had the three points.

05.04.08  No Game

29.03.08  Game Postponed

22.03.08  Ragged School 6  Brunswick 0. It sounds worse than it was. We were 2 nil down the first half with a strong wind behind us. So when we changed half time the battle became a harder. Although we did create a few chances, there was no way we were gona get anything from this game.

15.03.08  Game Postponed

08.03.08  Brunswick 2  Malsters 2.  Another point earned today, by coming back from 2 down. But it wont be enough to keep our Reserve One hopes alive for next season. Wayne Griffiths turned the game around for us by getting brought down in the box and having a penalty awarded, which was put away by David Dean. Then Griffiths sscored our second, geting his head behind a deep cross, to power it into the back of the net.

01.03.08  No Game

23.02.08  Brunswick 3  Treboth 2. This was a game with chances from end to end. We should have been at least 2 nil up after 30 mins, with Ben Walker and David Dean both hitting the crossbar. It was Treboth who got the first goal, and Mattehew Copp brought us back level. Then Nicholas Howells scored again with a powerful header from a corner kick. The game was close and Treboth pulled it back even, before Veteran Jonso sloted one in from a tight angle to take us back in the lead. We managed to hold on to a much needed win, and now need to win our last four games to stay up in Reserve One.

16.02.08  No Game

09.02.08  Cwm Press 4  Brunswick 0. We struggled through the whole game with only 9 men. Despite this, the lads that were there played good football and gave Press and good game. Jason Paddison gave away 1 definate penalty in the first 5 minutes, and another late in the game that was very unfair. Nevertheless, we never looked like scoring, how could we, there was now one upfront. Some points are needed from the last five games, or we are going down!

02.02.08  Brunswick 0  Gors 5. This was a combined effort from second and third team players. Last time they put seven on us, so we knew it wasn't going to be an easy game......and it was true!

26.01.08  Morriston Olympic 10  Brunswick 0. Hammered!

19.01.08  Game postponed

12.01.08  Penlan 4  Brunswick 2.  We went one nil up within ten minutes, by their keepers mistake. But they recovered soon afterwards and took the lead to 3 - 1 by half time. We had plenty of chances from all angles, until Lee Chapman found the back of the net with his 40 yard lob over the keeper. Very much in the game at this point and it wasn't until a defensive error allowed them through to score their 4th, with only minutes left there was no coming back for us. A much better footballing display this week, but still no points to keep us in reserve division one.

05.01.08  Ynystawe 2  Brunswick 1. We were one nil up at well into the second half, but took our foot off the gas. Sloppy midfield play leaving Ynystawe too much room and they pushed forward with ease to grab to goals late in the game.

22.12.07  Brunswick 0  Penplas 2. What a dismal display against an opposition of ten men. We just didn't look like scoring the whole game, and we let them take their chances late in the second half.

15.12.07  Brunswick 4  Cwm Press 3. We were just about able to field a side today, due to players not turning up after what must have been one hell of a party night. The lads that did play did a great job for the second team and secured the three points against an awkward opposition. The scoresheet looked something like Mattehew Copp, David Dean and A n Other. Luckily for us Jonso only gave away one penalty to 'Press. Great win boys!

08.12.07  Game Postponed

01.12.07  Game Postponed

24.11.07  Rockspur 3  Brunswick 2. Our hopes of a long cup run this season ended in the first round. Despite going one nil down, we equalised just before half time with a great finish from Zak. Then the other half of the strike partnership, Gareth, put us in the lead neatly slotting the ball home. But through a lapse in concerntration in our defence, they came back into the game with a second touch of the ball to flick it past the keeper. Then it was not long after they got their third goal, and they were able to sit back and defend us untill the end.

17.11.07  No Game

10.11.07  Brunswick 2  Ynystawe 0. This was a great game of football, something that has been missing from the reserve side this season. Chances came from both sides throughout the game, but we managed to find the back of the net twice in the last ten minutes. Ben walker opened up the score sheet with a tap in after a scramble in the box. Then Gareth got himslef on the end of a long ball, and sloted it past their keeper.

03.11.07  Game postponed due to First Team in West Wales Cup

27.10.07  Gors Inn 7  Brunswick 3. Another game with plenty for our Keeper to do (picking the ball out of the back of the net) With three first team players in the side we should have done a lot more. Credit to Gors though, they were the better side.

20.10.07  Brunswick 0  Morriston Olympic 5. Another humiliating defeat with  us finishing with only nine men. Carl Chapman got himself sent off when he retaliated to his opponent's challenge after about twenty minutes. With both teams on ten men, we soon found ourselves 2 nil down, and we never recovered from there. Lee Chapman had to go off before the end, to be ready to start in the first team line-up. Where to we go from here?
13.10.07  Maslsters 0  Brunswick 0.  At least this week we had a full side and three subs. A great game of football, both sides had about equal chances and it could have gone either way. Eapie in goals pulled off two great saves in the last 15 minutes to keep us in the game, but neither Jocie or Brownie could find the back of the net for us.

06.10.07  Brunswick 1  Penlan 11.  A complete disaster, Yes eleven-one.  Only 9 players turned up for us and our 58 year old Chairman was drafted in as goalie. He's now off work with a bad back??? No not really, but what a shambles 2-1 down at half-time, Lee Chapman scorer & man of the match, but Roger Dunkin & Mathew Copp played their hearts out, while some of the youngsters had hearts as big as peas.   p.s the old man in goals saved a futher six at least, and almost had a hand to one of two penalties given.  Where are our players gone?

29/09/07  Brunswick 0  Bonymaen 1. Unlucky to have lost this one. One nil down just before half time, and still we had a load of close chances to equalise and even win.

22/09/07  Penplas 0  Brunswick 2.  A sweet victory for a make shift reserve side, and the first of the season so far. New  club signing Oliver Waters getting the brace, his 2nd was brilliant, followed by determination as he rode two heavy tackles & chipped over the advancing keeper. The defence looks a lot tighter with Wayne Griffiths in midfield out of the way, where he can tackle anything that moves. Paddys kung fu earned him an unneccesary  £9.00 booking fee. And Man of the Match had to go to Nicholas Howells for a gutsy performance.

15/09/07  Brunswick 4  Ragged School 7.  Again we showed that as a team we cannot defend. Our goals against tally proves this so far. At 5-1 down half time it was always going to be hard to come back. But Ragged showed signs of weakness in the second half and we managed to notch up a few goals, through Wayne Griffiths, Jamie Wheeler, Mark Buckney and Jonathon Eames. It could have gone our way if we could have kept the ball out of our own net. Next week could there be changes?

08/09/07  Treboth 4  Brunswick 1. We were one nil up half time and could have gone on to win the game. But its a game of to halves and Treboth came out strong. Our defence made a few errors in calling for offside, that the referee judged play-on, and we were too slow to react. A few players had pretty good games including Simon O'leary, the only goalscorer, Mattehew Copp, midfield dinamo and Chris Zulu just didn't stop running, even without the ball. This was a game we can look back on and say we should have had a point.

01/09/07  Brunswick 0  Winch Wen 6.  A hammering for the second team in the opening game. We started well and should have taken the lead with at least two goals. But we simply weren't good enough on the day for our opponents.
