Second Team Results

04.05.06   Brunswick 1  Ragged School 2.  We took the lead in the second half with a superb goal in a narrow angle by Ashley Gennan. But it wasn't enough to see off the division champions, who came back with two goals. The referee made things difficult for us by sending off Ashleigh Mannings for the second yellow card 10 minutes from the end, and we just couldn't pull it back. This meant we lost out on the runers up place to Gors Inn.  However, if you said what about finishing third place at the begining of the season then we would have probably been happy with that!

29.04.06   Bonymaen 1  Brunswick 2.  A great come back from being one nil down the first half. Chopper slammed the first one into the back of the net from the edge of the box. Minutes later Jamie Wheeler was brought down on a run into the box and the penalty was cooly taken by Chapman, who slotted it into the bottom corner. We should have scored a few more goals, even from the first half when out of form striker Chris Jose missed a few sitters. Now if we win the last game of teh season we finish runners up - Here we go!

18.04.06   Brunswick 3  Murton Rovers 1. The same score as we beat them last time, but what a different game. THey played all through with 10 men and even took the lead in the first half. However there was a little bit of fizz in the bottle, enough to make a come back, with goals coming from Chris Jose, Jamie Wheeler and a last minute effort from Dan Brown. All we could say was we haven't played for 3 weeks, it certainly showed, and we have to lift our game if we are going to win the last two games.

01.04.06   No Game

25.03.06   Murton Rovers 1  Brunswick 3. It was a rainlashed game that came to an end after 70 mins due to the deterioration in the pitch condition. We took the lead after 20 mins with Shaun Howells scoring from 35yards out, certainly a contender for goal of the season. He then got the second goal through a header in the box, and Chris Jose made it three with a beautiful shot across the front of goal finding the inside net. Murton scored straight away in the second half, and for a time put a bit of pressure on the otherwise solid  5 man Brunswick defence. With only three games remaining, winning them all could see us finishing as runners up to Ragged School.

18.03.06   No Game

11.03.06   Morriston Olympic 0  Brunswick 4. A massive win for the seconds against fourth place opposition. They were stunned with the quality of goals scored by Chooper Harris and Jamie Wheeler in the first half. Then we extended the lead straight into the second half, with Chopper getting his second goal, neatly set up by a hard working Mattehew Cop. Chris Jose got the fourth with a tap-in 2 yards from the goal line. Then only to have his second goal not count, because the referee didn't see it go through the hole in the net.. This week the defence went out on the pitch determined to keep a clean sheet, and with their 5 -in -the-back formation,  they were able to pull it off.  Lets hope we can finish the season with this kind of form!

04.03.06   Brunswick 2  Manselton 4.  This was one way traffic from the start with Manselton dominating the game. We had our chances, but missed a couple of one on one's with the keeper. Our two consulation goals came from Ashleigh Mannings and Jamie Wheeler. A very poor performance from the whole team again.

25.02.06   Gors Inn 4  Brunswick 0.  This was a bit of a thrashing by the division leaders. Our leaky defence just couldn't keep out a strong Gors side.

18.02.06   Brunswick   v  Farmers Arms.  Opposition could not field a side, so we take three points, but rather have played the game and won.

11.02.06   Cwm Press 4  Brunswick 5.  Another great battle this week as we just about held on to the lead until the end. It was a great start going 2 nil up, but Cwm Press were let back into the game to make it 2-2. With an outstanding strike force in the team this week, we took it to 5-2. Our goals came from Chris Jose (2), Stuart Williams (2) and Shaun Howells (1). However, with the midfield struggling for the last twenty minutes Cwm Press fought back to get another 2 goals. It could have nearly ended a draw as a clearence in the box by Paddy was almost mistaken for a foul. Luckily the Referee from their side made the right decision in not awarding a penalty, despite giving them an earlier offside goal. All in all, the boys battled well and young Ashliegh Gennan keeps getting better week on week!

04.02.06   Ragged School 3  Brunswick 2.  This was a great display of football from both sides, with Brunswick leading the game 2-1 at half time. Both goals came from the third team hit man Daniel Brown. However, in the second half,  Ragged pulled back even with a goal headed home by a poorly marked player. Then 5 minutes before time they scored the winner with a flukey goal that was intended as a cross and ended up lobbing our keeper. Everyone one on the pitch today played with real fight and committment and deserve a place in next week's team. Daniel Brown Man of the Match.

28.01.06   Brunswick 3  Ynystawe 3.   This game should have been won in the first half, but a slack Brunswick side let their opponents slowly back in the game. Chris Jose and Martin Dean got their names on the scoresheet, with the other being an own goal. Despite always being in the lead, we never seemed to want to win it as much as Ynystawe and they took advantage of poor defensive errors to crawl back level. A last minute penalty awarded for a foul in the box, should have clinched the game. But a schoolboy spot kick was hit miserably wide by a less than impressive Lee Chapman.

21.01.06    St Josephs 1  Brunswick 2.  A great win for us today, after suffering defat against the Saints earlier in the season. Chris Jose got the first goal and Stuart (Twinny) with the second. Poor defending by Thomas Todd let slip to a saints goal from a corner move, that was headed home by the unmarked player.

14.01.06    Game posponed due to rain.

07.01.06    Farmers Arms 0  Brunswick 3.  This was literally a one sided affair with the weak opponents walking off 5 minutes into the second half and the game came to an abrupt end. In the first couple of minutes we took the lead through number one striker Chris Jose. The second goal came from a converted penalty by Lee Chapman, and then it was three nil by the end of the half. 4 Farmers players then had to go and play for their first team, leaving them to play on with 7 men. But within only minutes of the restart the referee had to blow the final whistle when one of their players faked an injury, which left them unable to finish the game with 6 players.

17.12.05    Brunswick 2  Malsters 1.  Brunswick made hard work of this game, with Malsters playing with only 10 men.  Chris Jose's far post header put Brun in the lead after about 20 minutes. Five minutes later Jamie Wheeler got the second, and then got himself sent off kicking out at the opposition after he was fouled. Malsters managed to pull a goal back before half time, but we were always in control.

10.12.05    Brunswick 0  St Jospehs 2.  This was the second defeat of the season for the reserves, showing signs of weakness throughout the team, since not playing for three weeks. The first goal came after 5 minutes of play, but we never looked like scoring throughout the rest of the game. Their second goal was a dubious penalty decision against Brunswicks' centre half Jason Paddison, who looked like he'd well timed the tackle in the box, only for the lump of a centre forward to come crashing down claiming a fowl. Half chances were missed by our forwards, but all in all this was a dismal display. We need to be training midweek and pick our game up next week.

03.12.05     Postponed due to rain

26.11.05     Game postponed due to heavy snowfall

19.11.05     Ragged School 2  Brunswick 1. The second team were all at sea for the first 20 minutes of this 2nd round cup tie. Not commanding enough in midfield or defence, they soon found themselves 1 nil down from a corner kick move. Ten minutes later Ragged increased the lead, the attacker evading three tackles from poor defending and sloted the ball home past Jon Longdon in goals. The second half Brunswick came out stronger, tackling harder and competing for the ball. A good shot from Chapman 20 mintues from the end caused the keeper to palm the ball out, allowing Jamie Wheeler to slot it home. But it was not enough to win the game even though Brunswick continued to pile on the pressure right to the end.

12.11.05     Postponed due to rain

05.11.05     Postponed due to rain

29.10.05     Malsters 1  Brunswick 8.  Malsters struggled to field a side, starting with 8 players, which increased to 10 as the game went on. Obviously they were no match for brunswick who ran out easy winners. Goals came from Greg (Chopper) Harris 2, Paul Williams 2, Lee Chapman 2, Martin Dean 1 and substitue Jon Porter 1.

22.10.05     Brunswick 4  Morriston Olympic 1. What a great win this was against a strong skillfull side that hadn't lost a game yet this season. Olympic took the lead in the first half after a lapse in concerntration from an otherwise solid Brunswick defence. But not even manager Wayne Griffiths could have thought his substitute chnages in the second half would have made such a difference to the game. Recent signing John controlled the midfield and the youngsters came up with some great goals. Chris Hole got the first and then was followed by Jamie Wheeler, who thought he had goal of the match, until Chris Joce scored his second goal, this time lobbing the keeper in the top corner from a left footed strike some 30 yards out.

15.10.05     Ynystawe 1  Brunswick 2.  This could have easily been 7 or 8 for us, as we missed chance after chance, and got caught off-side by the keen eye of the referee several times. However, the performance overall was very impressive from the young midfielders. Jamie Wheeler got the first goal with a header from a rebound shot. The other came from Man of the Match Knobby (Robert Clarke) who had a fantastic game

08.10.05     Manselton 1  Brunswick 1.  A hard battle of a game, with a fair result for both sides. Mansleton took the lead, beating our keeper John Orme with a blistering shot. We equalised just before half time with a quality finish from a cool Jamie Wheeler. The dealock couldn't be broken the second half.  Although there were not many chances at either end, the closet we came to a second goal was a golden chance sent wide of the post from M**ge of the Match Lee Chapman.

01.10.05     Brunswick 3  Cwm Press 1.  The second team are starting to find their form with this first league win of the season. Full back Richard Davies had the first, followed by a penalty neatly placed out of the keepers reach by midfielder Lee Chapman. At the cost of this penalty Cwm Press went down to 10 men, but they still caused Brunswick's defence some problems, with Wayne Griffiths making a clumsy tackle and gave away a penalty at the other end, which went in off the crossbar. The final goal came from Chris Joce, as he lobbed the keeper. Man of the match again was Lee Chapman. making it 3 out of 4 for him.

24.09.05     Brunswick 3  Hafod 1.   This was a close game until the last 5 minutes, and a scoreline that flatters the second team, who didn't play well against a 10 man Hafod side. Nonetheless it was Jamie Wheeler's turn this week for two great goals and the other was tapped in by Chris Joce.

17.09.05     Brunswick 2  Gors Inn 3.   Paul Williams scores a brace, but Brunswick sink through a last minute goal due to a defensive error. Having out played Gors for most of the match, it was a bitter pill to swallow. Man of the match was new midfielder Chris Hole, who linked up well with Lee Chapman. The lads will be disappointed that only 1 point has been gained in these early days.

10.09.05     Brunswick 3  Bonyamen 3.  The first half was a great start to the season, having gone 1 goal down, we came back with 3 goals in half hour. Veteran Roger Duncan kicked things off with our first goal, followed by a penalty converted by Lee Chapman, and a superb finish from a corner by Captain Jason Paddison rounded things off.  Although before half time, we conceded a stupid goal through a defensive mix-up, making it 3-2.  The second half Bonymaen with only 10 men put pressure on Brunwick the whole time, and finally clinched an equaliser in the last 5 mins. It might have felt like we lost, but with the side still not up to full strength, it was a point gained.
