up to end of season 2004/05
16/04/05 We Did It!! It was a fitting final to a brilliant season for the seconds, a 9 - 0 thrashing of Hafod. With three points needed from this game the boys new they had to make sure of it. A superb collection of goals came from Jamie Wheeler 2, Lee Chapman 2, Shaun Howells 2, Chris Jose 1, Roger Duncan 1, Simon O'leary 1. There could have been countless others as Roger had a penalty saved and Jamie missed the open net on more than one occasion. And yet again the defence with a little help from Keeper Glover kept a clean sheet. Having only lost the first game of the season, its Reserve Division One in September for us.
31/03/05 It was a repeat result from last Saturday as Malsters matched Brunswick with a 2 - 2 draw, keeping the point gap the same between these two sides. It was Malsters who took the lead with the only goal of the first half caused by a mistake in the defence. Then in the second half all 3 goals came in a 15 minute frenzy. Brunswick's Peter Gennan played up front today and get their first goal from close range. The second came from Roger Duncan on the spot (his fourth same of the season), when Jocey was fouled first by the keeper and then brought down by their defender. But the 2 - 1 lead, which would have guarenteed end of season promotion, was too good to be true, as Sean Howells mistakenly headed back a long ball over the top of Keeper Glover and into his own net. The game remained tight untill the end. The second team now need a point from the last game to go up.
26/03/05 Brunswick maintain the 8 point gap with this top of the division clash against Malsters. Despite going ahead once in the first half from Peter Gennan, and again in the second half with Chris Joce, it just wasn't enough to keep hungry Malsters away. They pulled back level from a badly defended corner in the second half, and drew level at 2 -2 with only 3 minutes to go with another header from a corner kick. With a Brunswick side that was well under par through injuries, it was a disappointing result considering we were twice in the lead. The last two games will tell if promotion is on for this year.
19/03/05 No Game
12/03/05 No Game
05/03/05 Another 4 - 0 win, this week against Winchwen. Before our defence had even touched the ball we were 1 up, with a goal from Jonathan Eames, who went on to claim his hat-trick. The other goal came from the spot, when the defender blatenly handled the ball in the box, Roger Duncam cooly hammered it home.
26/02/05 Brunswick 4 - 0 Mumbles. This game didn't live up to the 6 all draw of the last encounter, as it was a stronger side this time that knocked up our goal difference. Jamie Wheeler and Mattehew Dowling made a great combination upfront that the Mumbles defence could just not cope with. Sean Howells had a goal which could be a contender for goal of the season, when a ball over the defence from midfielder Henry Szymonski was met with a superb half-volley strike that flew into the net.
19/02/05 The winning streak continues as Brunswick win 6 - 2 against Dunvant & 3x's. Goals came from Jamie Wheeler, Chris Joce, Roger Duncan (Penalty) and Lee Chapman.
12/02/05 Game called off due to heavy rain - 6 games remaining
05/02/05 Another 3 points in the bag, and a step closer to the first division for Brunswick 2nd Reserves. The 3 - 0 win against bottom side Plough was made up with goals from Roger Duncan, Dean Saunders and Shaun Howells getting his first for the club.
29/01/05 The seconds found themselves held to a 3 - 3 draw this week in the top of table clash with Morriston Olympic. Initially taking the lead with a long range strike from the wing, by full back Richards Davies, his second in the last two games. The full back himself then being beaten by Morriston's striker, who found the net for the equaliser. Further goals came from a penalty awarded for hand ball, calmly placed by Peter Gennan. Brunswick needed to find their pre-Christmas form if they are to gain the promotion they so desperately seek into reserve division one.
22/01/05 A well earned 1 - 0 win against second from bottom Plough Colts. In a gritty performance in poor weather conditions Brunswick managed to get the only goal of the game from Jamie Wheeler. This week many chances were missed by the likes of Lee Chapman and Chris Joce, and a great few saves from Plough Colts keeper kept the goal tally to a minimum. All three substitutes were used, replacing the tired veterans in midfield, who themselves had given outstanding committment. This type of decision could see Wayne Griffiths up for Manager of the Month this January.
15/01/05 1 - 1 draw in a drab affair against Cwn Social, who were chuffed to have taken a point from this game against the top side. Wet and heavy ground conditions meant the game didn't create many oppourtunities for either side. After going behind first, the game was levelled by half time by a perfect free kick by Peter Gennan (Sooty) that was too powerful to be held by the keeper, who dropped it over the line, with the referee being in the right position to award a goal. Good performance from the back four kept Cwm Social at bay.
08/01/05 Game cancelled - St Josephs could not field a side - Brunswick awarded a 1- 0 win with three points in the bag.
18/12/04 Brunswick come back from behind again to beat a strong Treboth side 2-1. After Mattehew dowling missing several chances in each half he finally got the winner, thank god we din't sub him!
11/12/04 Brunswick seconds come back from behind to beat West End 5-3 in a battle of game at Paradise Park. Joce grabs an astonishing hat-trick, and Townhill boy Dean Saunders gets the other two goals. Great perfomance from regular man of the match Shaun Howells, this time playing a central role in midfield. While veteran Henry Szymonski changed the game when he came on after the second half and helped put Brunswick on course to win, and gain an important three points.
