up to end of season 2004/05
12/05/05 Brunswick 1 - 4 St Josephs. Half time we were one nil up after Craig Lewis headed home a dodgy clearence by the keeper. But it was a different story the second half after Saints equalised they got on top of the game, and Brunswick could just not get back in control. It remained 2-1 until nearing the end when the team had to push men forward to attack, only to be further punished with another two goals. The score line flatered the Saints in the end, and we will have to wait until next year to lift that cup.
05/05/05 Brunswick 5 - 4 West End after Extra Time and Penalties. What a semi final - it went all the way to sudden death penalties, with Paul (Shush) Williams firing home the winner. Brunswick took the lead in the second half, with a superb free kick from Thomas Todd, that took a deflection before it hit the back of the net. Then it was going to stay that way right until the final whistle when a battling West End managed to get an equaliser about 4 minutes into injury time. It was a gutter. However the boys picked themselves up and played well again in extra time, but we all knew deep down this one was going to pens. Brunswick scored their first three, through Simon Turner, Thomas Todd and a perfect shot from Skipper Colin Price. West End had missed two. We then had the chance to win with each of the remaining penalties but they both hit the woodwork from Adam Avo and Paul Wheeler. Then after West End missing thier first sudden death pen with a hero's save from Paul Wheeler, it was up to Shush to place it in the net in his own unique style. Lets hope we can perform as outstanding as tonight on the day of the final.
03/05/05 Brunswick 0 - 1 Gors Inn. They battled well, but could not overpower the Gors. So the season ended with Gors in first place and Brunswick second.
29/04/05 Brunswick 1 - 0 Mumbles Rangers. This was always going to be a tough match, with Mumbles fighting for a place in the top three of this division. A superb solo run from Darren John was the only goal of the match (It was a blast from his past younger goal scoring days!). Mumbles did have at least one chance to draw even, but from the spot the penalty was hit over the bar. With other goals disallowed for Brunswick today, this will mean a win against Gors Inn next week needs to be 2 goals or more because of the tight goal difference. A win of 1-0 will not be enough for that champions position. Good Luck Lads!
26/04/05 Brunswick 2 - 0 Plough Colts. What a season! The last of our three teams to be promoted today. Its the runners up place so far, and if the next two games are won with a total of four or more goals then it will be promotion as champions. This game could have easliy seen the goal tally reach double figures, but nonetheless it was another three points towards the title race. Goals today from Darren John and Jonathon Eames.
23/04/05 Game postponed - water logged pitch
19/04/05 Back on the winning streak with a 3 -0 win against North End, for the second time this season.
16/04/05 This pitch must be jinxed for the first team as they lost at Halfway Park again. Final result 2 - 1. Robbie Lynn the only goal-scorer. Despite the loss the lads remain positive for the Semi Final Cup Game next week, and with all three top teams losing today the title race is still on. Manager Sticky Wheeler says he has some important decisions to make for the final four games.
12/04/05 Brunswick snatch a late equaliser to draw 2 - 2 with Malsters, after trailing behind and being outplayed for most of the match. Goals came from Mattehew Dowling when he came on for Adam Avo, and finally for Simon Turner with the last kick of the game.
09/04/05 It ended Brunswick 4 Winchwen 0, as they now press on into the semi-final of the Open Cup. Full write up in the post this week.
05/04/05 Brunswick loose thier lead and end up drawing level at 2 - 2 with CRC Rangers. Simon Turner again on the goal sheet, with Mattehew Dowling getting the second. But player/manager Sticky Wheeler couldn't keep the goal from the net in a scramble after a CRC free-kick was finally put past him. 2 points dropped here tonight.
02/04/05 Dreams are coming true, Brunswick 3 Murton 2. In this 3rd round tie of the Open Cup, two goals came from Eddie and the other from Simon Turner.
29/03/05 Game against Mumbles postponed to Sat April 30th
26/03/05 Second league defeat of the season, and Brunswick drop three valuable points, as they loose 2 - 0 to Malsters.
19/03/05 This third cup tie in as many weeks was a bitter blow to Brunswick, who were beaten 4 - 2 by Ragged School. Despite a couple of goal keeping errors, they were still in the game at 2 - 2, but a stronger Ragged side finished off the game in the second half. Brunswick's Craig Lewis scored a superb goal.
However, despite losing out in two cup competitions in recent week, the first team are still on for promotion to the first division and have a Third Round Tie in the Open Cup next month.
12/03/05 Powering on through to the third round of the Open Cup, this one went our way, with a 3 - 1 victory over friendly rivals Farmers Arms. After getting the first goal for us, Ceri Wheeler literally lost his head; a flying head-butt into his opponent got him the Red Card. But with the side down to ten men, and drawing even at half time, they still went on to win. A great result for Manager Sticky Wheeler.
05/03/05 This eagerly awaited quarter final tie away to Winch wen turned out to be a disappointing result for the first team. Dispite taking the lead after 10 minutes with Robbie Lyn's ball into the box, being controlled down by Simon Turner, for Adam Avo to precisely finish past the keeper. There were further chances squandered, but Winchwen were never out of the game and finished with a 2 - 1 victory, putting them in the West Wales Cup Semi-Final.
26/02/05 First league defeat of the season as Brunswick go down 2 - 1 to Gors Inn. This was the match of the season in the second division as the two unbeaten sides met for the first time, and it was Gors that came away with the three points. Gors took the lead the first half, and it could have been goal number two for them had it not been ruled off-side. Jonathan Eames got Brunswick's only goal early in the second half , but Gors took the lead again 15 minutes later and held on to the final whistle, putting them 1 point clear at the top.
19/02/05 Brunswick beat Bishopston in a 5 - 0 win, on a day that saw all three teams win on the home turf of Ashleigh Road.
12/02/05 Game called off due to heavy rain
05/02/05 Brunswick 2 - 1 Mumbles. This was a second division clash in the fourth round of the West Wales Cup. The first goal coming from Craig Davies, whose strike was parried by the keeper, alowing him to follow up to blast home the rebound. Mumbles equlaised before half time after a scramble in the box. In the opening minutes of the second half Simon Turner linked up on the head with Darren John's cross, and then Ceri Wheeler just squeezed the ball home between the keeper and the post.
29/01/05 Another hard fought contest between these two sides saw Brunswick claiming a 1 - 0 victory over South Gower. Craig Davies the only goal scorer netting the winner from close range, after a perfectly executed one-two with Adam Avo.
22/01/05 Game called off against North End Stars at RTB ground
15/01/05 1 - 1 draw in this game against South Gower, seeing drop thier first points of the season
08/01/05 First team start the New Year as they mean to go on with a convincing 2 - 0 win against 3rd place Port Tennant Colts.
18/12/04 No game - match postponed with Farmers Arms as a mark of repsect to Tony Bell who died recently.
11/12/04 1st Team keep up the impressive unbeaten run with a 5- 1 win against Plough. Adam Avo gets a hat-trick.
04/12/04 Wheelers' heros slam Bwlch 4 - 1 in West Wales Cup 2nd round victory.
